It's all in the name: Why Chocolate Coffee Alchemy?

So what’s in the name - Chocolate Coffee Alchemy?

I know what you may be thinking, this blog has absolutely nothing to do with eating or making chocolate, no relationship to drinking or selling coffee and nothing to do with magic…. or something along those line.  To cut a very long story short, I love chocolate (dark to be precise) and I love coffee (especially being served it by a smiley barista) and I think the secret magic of alchemy is love.  For the longer version read on…

Instead of giving you a long winded written explanation of why I chose this name, I’m going to show you – in the mind maps my amazing artist friend created below.  I love mind maps and use them for everything from shopping lists to deciding what I am going to do about world peace and the future of the human race (not joking).

The original name’s I had come up with for this blog included:

Whisperings of the heart

The Journey Unknown

The Alchemy of Love

Inspirational and life changing don’t you think?  Well not according to hubby who said something along the lines of, “stop trying to sound all spiritual and wise and just get real.  What do you love? Chocolate and Coffee right?  So start there.”

To be honest, I didn’t take his advice particularly well.  What did he mean “trying”? What was he suggesting? Should I sulk for the next week and make it clear that I hadn’t appreciated his commentary?  This was my work and I could do and choose what I wanted etc... The ego is a funny (not so funny) thing, I'll write a blog post about it one day soon.

Of course he was absolutely right (I’m not going to let him read this blog post – that’s just between us) and after several nights tossing and turning Chocolate Coffee Alchemy was born and as you'll see below, its all about origins, meanings, symbolism and transformation.  Here is why:

Alchemy:

 Coffee:

Coffee:

 Chocolate:

Chocolate:

I hope that explains a little bit more about my thought process? Or perhaps I’ve just complicated it more? I’m quite good at turning simple ideas into convoluted theories. Let the journey begin.

With gratitude,

Your friend, BB
