Are you tired of the effort of NOT being true to yourself?
As children we receive messages (subliminal and overt) that if we are a certain way we will be loved and accepted, and that if we are another way we will not be loved and accepted.
So we begin to mould ourselves away from who we truly are to how we think we should be in order to receive that love and acceptance from the adults around us and from what we believe our society wants.
The effort and energy involved in keeping up this inauthentic version of ourselves is highly destructive.
Here’s a story that I would like to share with you:
According to a 19th century legend, Truth and Lie meet one day. Lie says to Truth: "It's a marvellous day today"! Truth looks up to the skies and sighs, for the day was really beautiful.
They spend a lot of time together, ultimately arriving beside a well. Lie tells the Truth: "The water is very nice, let's take a bath together!" Truth, once again suspicious, tests the water and discovers that it indeed is very nice. They undress and start bathing.
Suddenly, Lie comes out of the water, puts on the clothes of Truth and runs away. Furious, Truth comes out of the well and runs everywhere to find Lie and to get her clothes back. The World, seeing Truth naked, turns its gaze away, with contempt and rage.
Rejected Truth returns to the well and disappears forever, hiding therein, its shame. Since then, Lie travels around the world, dressed as Truth, satisfying the needs of society, because, the World, in any case, harbours no wish at all to meet the naked Truth.
I invite you to reconnect and rediscover who you really are, and what is your Truth. Feel free to message me or comment below.
With gratitude,
Your friend,
